Renovation and Extension

We are so proud to have been given the opportunity to construct this unrivalled residential facility for SACARE.  SACARE is a South Australian, family-owned business committed to enhancing the lives of its clients by providing compassionate care and unique supported accommodation options for those living with high complex needs.

Set on 2100 square metres of land, ‘Briarholm’ has been designed to provide 24/7 active care to residents in a quiet residential location, where up to nine individuals can take advantage of their own large private room with kitchenette and ensuite. The facility will also boast an enormous open plan entertaining area with common kitchen, separate private lounge, indoor heated hydro-gym, extensive gardens, outdoor barbeque gazebo area, office and staff overnight suite.

Neil Kemp from Design Vision worked closely with SACARE to create a set of plans that would provide residents living with physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries or neurological conditions, a comfortable and tranquil living environment, with state of the art facilities to ensure individual medical needs can be met.  This complex and specialised build has been a challenging and interesting project to construct and we are so excited to bring this innovative vision to life.

The original 1920s Return Verandah Sandstone Villa required a complete transformation in order for the home to meet BCA requirements for Residential Disability Accommodation. Doorways have been widened, ceilings altered to house structural lifting systems, some floors removed and replaced and the floor plan altered. Special care has also been taken to restore the exterior of this stunning building back to its original glory.

Construction for the extension has been based on an enormous 500 square metre concrete slab. Supaloc steel framing was used for the structural build, in conjunction with impressive curved custom-made steel for the highlight raised roof.  The framing is being clad with a rendered Hebel veneer, with feature custom orb corrugated panels to break up the façade. Santorini Blocks have been introduced to the outdoor entertaining area to complement the sandstone on the existing home.

The extension features polished concrete floors and 3 metre high ceilings throughout. Over sized black commercial aluminium bi-fold doors and windows will open the home to the outdoor gazebo area to be tiled with stunning charcoal granite creating an inviting indoor/outdoor living space.  Striking green mosaic glass tiles with granite charcoal coping have been selected for the pool. The Hydro-gym area will be opened to the outdoor entertaining area with a wall of bi-fold doors. The enormous kitchen will boast a stylish blend of laminate joinery with stone bench tops and a feature Caesarstone Statuario Nuvo Upstand. Under the careful direction of Interior Designer Polli Wood, this facility will be a stunning home for residents to enjoy with a warm and welcoming environment to share quality time with family and friends.

‘Briarholm’ is very special to us and we are so proud to constructing such a unique and unrivalled residential care facility.
